About Montgomery Plant

The Montgomery plant has been in operation from the current location since 1976. The plant is built differently from the Willsgrove plant and uses tunnel kiln. Tunnel kiln is a continuous moving ware kiln in which the clay products to be fired are passed on cars through a long horizontal tunnel. Better heat distribution results in uniform temperature across the kiln cross section in the firing zone thereby resulting in a higher percentage of good quality bricks. This is demonstrated in the high compressive strength of Macdonald bricks and their good reputation with engineers.

Consistent Quality

The quality of firing products is very stable thus reducing unacceptable finished products. Better heat distribution results in uniform temperature across the kiln cross section in the firing zone thereby resulting in a higher percentage of good quality bricks.

High Efficiency

Fully automatic temperature control of tunnel kilns provide economic fuel consumption. The kiln is equipped with high efficiency burner and fuels can be fired completely without any air pollution thereby producing quality products with minimal to no carbon emissions.

Safe for workers

Exposure of workers to heat from the kiln is quite low. This reduces the thermal stress and consequent risk of eye & skin diseases and dehydration among workers. Workers have low risk of developing respiratory complications because of low air pollution.
